Environment email a friend print version

Protecting the natural environmentAdjoining 900 hectares of Regional Park, Ropes Crossing is committed to protecting and enhancing the natural environment.

Key environmental initiatives of the community include:

Preserving more than 20% of Ropes Crossing
as parks, open space, nature reserves and
wetlands
Planting native flora extensively throughout
the community. Not only does this ensure
that the community’s flora is consistent with
the local environment, but also helps to
conserve water and reduce the energy consumption required during maintenance
Treating and recycling wastewater for non-drinking uses such as flushing toilets and watering lawns
Working with local groups, including Conservation Volunteers Australia, to host seed collection, weed removal and habitat rehabilitation programs
Ensuring buildings meet BASIX requirements for energy and water efficiency
Educating residents about how to be more environmentally aware
